In 2009, Sovereign Insurance Agency was registered in accordance with the provisions of the Registration of Business Names Act Cap 499 Laws of Kenya and duly licensed by Insurance Regulatory Authority to conduct insurance business in accordance with the Insurance Act Cap 487 Laws of Kenya. In February 2015, Sovereign Insurance Agency changed hands and the new owners transformed it into a corporate agent. Sovereign Insurance Agency Limited was registered as a limited liability company in accordance with Companies Act Cap 486 Laws of Kenya and duly licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority to conduct insurance business in accordance with the Insurance Act Cap 487 Laws of Kenya.

Sovereign Insurance Agency Limited is majority owned by Pamo Group which has interests in Real Estate, Transport & Logistics, Telecommunication & Information Technology, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Hospitality etc.
